Maine Roller Derby Presents 2024 Freshie Debut Bout
Portland, Maine – January 8, 2024 – Maine Roller Derby (MRD) presents the 2024 Freshie Debut bout on January 13th at Happy Wheels in Westbrook. MRD officially drafted 28 new skaters to home teams in November. After training together since July, these Fresh Muscle skaters are ready to bout before the public. New members of the R.I.P. Tides and Ship Wreckers will make their competitive debut in a thrilling roller derby showdown.
“I’m so incredibly proud of this group of skaters,” Tricia Jamol, also known as Slammin’, the Head of New Recruits, said. “Some of these skaters had never put roller skates on prior to this past July. They’ve worked their tails off learning the foundational skills of skating and rules of roller derby. Each skater has come to multiple practices every week for three or more hours at a time. This is an incredible achievement for all of them and all of us at Maine Roller Derby are thrilled to celebrate their first bout.”
This fan-favorite event will feature MRD’s new skaters going head-to-head on the track. In addition to the roller derby action, the event will offer a family-friendly atmosphere with food and beverage options, merchandise, and opportunities to meet the athletes. Attendees are encouraged to bring their friends and families to enjoy an evening of excitement and entertainment.
