Maine Roller Derby Drafts Fresh Muscle to Home Teams
Portland, Maine – November 19, 2023 – Maine Roller Derby (MRD) is currently concluding its 2023 Fresh Muscle training program, as new recruits and transfer skaters are set to be officially drafted to home teams on Monday, November 20th, at Happy Wheels in Westbrook. This marks the biggest class of Fresh Muscle MRD has ever had. The eagerly awaited draft reveal night promises an electrifying showcase, as the class of 2023, who joined in July, engages in their first team scrimmages after the announcement.
“I’m so incredibly proud of this group of skaters,” Tricia Jamol, also known as Slammin’, the Head of New Recruits, said. “Some of these skaters had never put roller skates on prior to this past July. They’ve worked their tails off learning the foundational skills of skating and rules of roller derby in the last four months. Each skater has come to multiple practices every week for three or more hours at a time. This is an incredible achievement for all of them and all of us at Maine Roller Derby are thrilled that we can now call them our teammates.”
New members of the R.I.P. Tides and Ship Wreckers will make their competitive debut at the Freshy Debut on January 13, 2024 at Happy Wheels in Westbrook.
