Port Authorities score a scrimmage win over the Brooklyn Bombshells, 105-58

The Port Authorities scrimmaged the Brooklyn Bombshells – a home team for Gotham City Roller Girls – on Aug 23, 2009 at the Portland Expo. Final score : 105 to 58.

The PAs tested a new roster and strategy against the Bombshells, proving to be a winning combination.

The first jam saw Olive Spankins and Carmen Monoxide fight for lead, with Carmen scoring lead, but neither team scoring a point. Maine held NY at 0 throughout the first five jams. By the sixth jam, Maine scored 20 points and NY at one.

Carmen Monixide chipped away at Maine’s lead with a 15-pointer during the eighth jam, but Maine continued a heavy defense. NY penetrated the defense during the last three jams to end the first half 67 to 34.

Period two began with two scoreless jams. Grim D. Mise was the first to put some points on the board – 5, to be exact. NY’s best second-period jam was with Hard Onya scoring 9 points against Olive Spankins, who scored 3 points. With a hit-it-and-quit-it style, Maine was able to nickel and dime NY for 48 point lead.

Killer Quick was the top-scoring jammer for Maine, earning 33 points.
Carmen Monoxide was the top-scoring jammer for NY, earning 25 points.
Patty O’Mean (of Maine) held the most penalties.
