2014 Year of End Glitter Gala Award Party

Following a fantastical debut bout for MRD’s freshest skaters, league skaters, volunteers, fans, friends and family gathered at Bubba’s Sulky Lounge for our annual end-of-year party. This year Maine Roller Derby decided to have some fun and brighten up the cold dark winter by calling it the “Glitter Gala” – encouraging attendees to add glitter, glitz and sparkle to their attire. In addition to Bubba’s as our wonderful hosts, Portland Pie Co, OTTO Pizza, and Bam Bam Bakery all donated food to feed our hungry skaters.
While we celebrated the end of another great season as Maine Roller Derby, we paused for a moment to welcome and honor our latest and newest skaters into MRD. Each new skater, who had debuted that night in their first public bout ever, was given a hand-made sash with their names on it. Please join us in welcoming: CupQuake, Headbutty Holly (recently came out of retirement), Mobius Trip, Aces N. Eights, RUFIO, Chemical Restraint, Otter Mayhem, J Train, Deelynn Quent, Mad Dog, Sudden Beth, Amyn 4U, Pratt Smasher, Killer Tofu, and Brutaloo.
Finally, sprinkled throughout the night MC Hard Dash divulged the winners of our various end-of-season awards. Winners were voted on by MRD skaters, volunteers -and of course, the fans!
