Final Score: Port Authorities 17, Philly 161
Maine Roller Derby ended its spring series of bouts at the Expo on Saturday, June 13th when the 3rd-ranked team in the nation, the Philly Liberty Belles, took home a sizable win against the hometown all-stars the Port Authorities. Though any loss is tough, the Port Authorities celebrated the little victories in their loss to such a high-caliber team, and as always took away many lessons and plans for future team development. Many thanks to the gracious and delightful Belles for coming all this way.Spring Wrap-Up
The Calamity Janes have been flawlessly victorious so far this year with a 3 - 0 record. The Janes veterans have been consistently demonstrating their experience on the track, while the infusion of new blood from the last round of recruits has added to the team's growing depth and strength.
The Port Authorities are wrapping up the spring and early summer with a 1 - 4 record after a series of challenges against hefty teams from among the top-ranks in the nation. It's been a growth and development year so far for the Port Authorities, and the team, which consists primarily of the hoariest MRD vets, learned more than ever about how they will work to adjust and develop their competitive game.
Summer Is Just Starting But Mark Your Calendars for Derby in the Fall. Come Back and See Us on August 29th!
The time of suntans, bbq's, and mosquitoes is just now gracing us, and the women of MRD will be welcoming it along with you while they take a brief summer break from bouting. But never fear, your hometown rollergirls will be back at the Expo
In the meantime, keep an eye out for us around the state at local community events, parades, and more.
